This session is open only to faculty and classified staff of the university. It is not open to VCU Health System employees. On October 6, 2014, the Commonwealth of Virginia began recognizing same sex marriages. Accordingly, the definition of "spouse" for state employee benefits at VCU was expanded to include same-sex spouses. This session will explain the processes for electing same-sex spouse coverage for health benefits coverage, life insurance, and voluntary long-term care coverage. Also included will be a review of the processes for designating beneficiaries and authorizing other parties to discuss your health and/or retirement plan information with the plan administrators.
