A blog defines the way websites maintain a rolling newsfeed consisting of frequently updated information primarily focusing on a single topic. You will activate your free VCU WordPress account and become familiar with the WordPress administrative dashboard and its available tools. There are a variety of default themes available; however, we will be using just one as an example in class.

Learning Objectives:

After the completion of this workshop the student will:
  • Show how to activate their account
  • Apply customization to their site using features such as: themes, widgets, and menus, etc.
  • Identify suitable images to upload, edit, and save into their Media Library
  • Understanding the administrative settings
  • Categorize and create links
  • Know how to post an entry, apply tags, and leave a comment
  • Apply roles to individual users

Additional WordPress Workshops: Online Courses: Other Resources:
