IBM SPSS Statistics software is used for statistical analysis and reporting.

This is a continuation of the SPSS Level 1 class. It covers the remainder of the workbook used in the Level 1 class, IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Brief Guide, as time permits.

Learning Objectives:

  • Produce summary statistics for categorical and scale variables (Chap. 4)
  • Create and edit charts (Chap. 5)
  • Customize SPSS output using the SPSS Output Viewer and SPSS Pivot Table Editor (Chap. 6)
  • Export SPSS output to MS Office applications and in HTML and PDF formats (Chap. 6)
  • Work with SPSS syntax commands (Chap. 7)
  • Sort and select data (Chap. 9)
This course does not cover any statistical procedures or discuss how to interpret statistical results.

This course is taught using SPSS for Windows, but the material covered also applies to SPSS on the Mac and Linux platforms.

Course Options:

Prerequisites: Completion of SPSS Level 1, or SPSS Level 1 [Online Equivalent], or equivalent knowledge is required (i.e., the content in chapters 1,2,3, and 8 of IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Brief Guide).

The workbook for this class is IBM SPSS Statistics 22 Brief Guide. It is recommended that you print your own copy of this workbook and bring it with you to class. If you do not, several copies will be available for sharing during class, but those copies cannot be removed from the classroom.
