What do you do when you notice a mole on your patient?s forehead? Or red spots on the throat? Have you ever wondered if there are information resources accessible at the point-of-care to help you understand the symptoms you are seeing and refer your patient for appropriate and timely follow-up care?VCU Libraries has mobile health tools that you can use on your phone or tablet to quickly learn about medical conditions at the point of care - UpToDate and VisualDx.UpToDate is a clinical tool specifically designed to answer the clinical questions that arise in daily practice quickly and easily so that it can be used right at the point of care for a broad range of medical conditions. Includes pharmaceutical information, patient handouts, and graphics.VisualDx is a point-of-care visual diagnostic clinical decision support system including more than 25,000 dermatology, oral pathology, ophthalmology, public health, drug reaction, and other images detailing variation in age, stage, and skin type. Contains information about endemic diseases and outbreaks by geographic location to inform health issues that arise from travel. Learning Objectives: 1. Install UpToDate and VisualDx on your SmartPhone or tablet 2. Learn potential uses of these m-health tools for use in clinical dental practice 3. Practice using UpToDate and VisualDx to explore clinical case examples 4. Prepare to instruct your students on the use of UpToDate and VisualDx on mobile devices.This workshop will be offered online and in person.
