Throughout the year the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Library offers bioinformatics short courses through distance education. These courses are to provide training on the effective usage and practical applications of bioinformatics resources.
This year VCU Libraries will host an "Introduction to Clinical Genomics." The short (2.5 hour) class will describe how to access information about genes and their variants associated with disease. The impact of variant on drug response and dosing guidelines will also be described. This class will provide an introduction to determination of the impact of the variants on function, pathogenicity or deleteriousness.
