The Animal Care and Use Program (ACUP) is facilitating a small workshop entitled "Aseptic Surgical Techniques and Tips. This workshop is intended to introduce the concept of sterile surgical fields and maintaining asepsis during basic surgical procedures regardless of the species. (This workshop does not use animals.) New Investigators and laboratory personnel (technicians, students, post-docs) with no or minimal surgical experience will benefit from this workshop. In the absence of live animals, participants will learn gloving techniques, animal prepping, draping, and sterilization techniques. Participants will receive a certificate after the class. Participants are welcome to bring expired surgical supplies to supplement the class (e.g., gloves, sutures, drapes, etc). PLEASE NOTE: This workshop does NOT fulfill a veterinary observation requirement, please contact DAR if you need a veterinary observation for a surgical procedure in your lab. After registration, you will be contacted to confirm that all prerequisites have been met and to receive specialized instructions.
